For this piece I gathered multiple reference photos to help me accurately draw each section of the piece. This piece is suppose to display someone dancing joyfully on a stage or platform. Whether it be a performer or just a random person is up for the viewer to decide and create their own background for this person. I chose to do red shoes to represent boldness and excitement and chose to make the other colors in the picture more neutral to help that red pop. I used colored pencil to get the most detail in as I could and I used multiple shades and values of colors to blend and create shadowing and highlights. I made sure not to burnish the colored pencil on the pants so it maintains that fabric-like appearance and went way out of my comfort zone by using a black background, instead of working my way to get darker I had to work my way to getting lighter. Over all I really like how this piece turned out. I think it displays an interseting story and person. If I could go back and change one thing I would maybe put tape around the park I wasn't coloring so that the color form the pencils wouldn't smear over and I would have cleaner lines.
