Artist Statement: For this piece, my style was inspired by a bit of Van Gogh and other impressionists. I really wanted to branch out for this piece by using paint and an unfamiliar painting style. I created this piece by using many different values and shades to create shadows and highlights. For the mark making, I used small brush strokes, somewhat inspired by Van Gogh. If I were to do this piece again, I would try to find more shades of green and incorporate more detail in the closer objects, using smaller, thinner brushes. But overall I like how the piece turned out.

Title: Abandoned House Dimensions: 8"x9" Media: Graphite Pencils
Artist Statement: For this piece I was inspired by the look of old abandoned houses, I just love how mysterious they look! For this piece I cropped this picture to give it a more interesting perspective/point of view. I decided to use graphite pencils because I haven't done a project in pencils in a while and I really love that media. I was able to create detail and depth by using different types of pencils ranging from 2H to 6B. I also used a grid for this piece to make the proportions more accurate. If I were to do this piece again I would give my self more time, so that I would be able to add more detail. But overall I really like how this piece turned out!
