Title: "At The End of The Day"
Dimensions: 20"x16" Media: colored pencils and markers Statement: This piece is a continuation of my sustained investigation because I drew shoes that display a story/ person. Since this is Women’s History Month, I decided to draw something representing all of the women in the workforce. The piece is supposed to display a woman coming home to her house, walking through her door, taking off her shoes/holding them, and relaxing a bit. To develop my idea for this piece, I drew the hands at a relaxed but almost curled looking position (like it is just starting to open up) to give it a more candid look. I also created emphasis by making the background a darker/ solid color. Used composition, positioning, etc to enhance my message by emphasizing the shoes and what is going on with them. I used lots of blending and layers to get different textures and colors but then, I used contrasting colors to make the skin look more real. Overall I liked how this turned out. If I were to do it again, I would maybe consider oil pastels, because they have so much more pigment and are easier/ faster to do than colored pencils. |
