Animal Name: Lambie
Age: 16 years old Height: 15 inches Belongs to: Evelyn Knighten Short bio: Lambie was given to me by a family friend in the hospital when I was born. From then on, Lambie has gone almost everywhere with me, from the sandy beach to rocky mountains I’ve always had her by my side. She’s been through a lot, she’s had her stitched nose and mouth torn out, she’s gotten holes, she’s gotten restuffed with cotton balls, she’s been thrown over the stairs rails, and she’s been put in the most ridiculous clothing but I still love her. I still have Lambie to this day and will always keep her, if the house were burning down she would definitely be the first thing I’d grab without any hesitation. Now, even though she is old and ratty, I still love her as if she were brand new. Title: "Lambie" Media: Micron pen and pencil. Dimensions: 9" by 12" Date: November 10th, 2020 Artist Statement: This piece consists of a stuffed animal lamb sitting on the corner of a bed. Throughout this piece I was able to depict texture, depth, and emphasis by increasing and decreasing the density of my mark-making and by changing the background. This art project was influenced by the history and the love I have for this stuffed animal, which has been with me for my whole life. This inspired me to try to create more emphasis on her by creating a smooth pencil background and having her be made completely of different mark-making techniques. This project allowed me try new types of art and it opened my eyes to how fun mark-making actually is. |
